Upcoming Event: Juneteenth Celebration on June 15th at 3:30pm

Celebrate Juneteenth with us on Saturday June 15th from 3:30pm to 4:30pm at the Larchmont Public Library Children’s Room!

Juneteenth is a holiday commemorating the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas in 1865.  We will learn about African culture, hear African drumming from John Grady,  make our own djembe drums and create cowrie shell jewelry.  This program is made possible with the help of the Education Committee of OneMamaroneck.

More After the Event

After the celebration explore the Larchmont Children’s Library. On that day, books relating to Black pioneers and African culture will be on display. These books were especially chosen by the committee and are provided by the library’s staff.
