Our Mission

The mission of OneMamaroneck is to organize a passionate and critical mass of community residents, businesses and organizations, such that they (1) Speak, (2) Act and (3) Grow together to address and resolve systemic issues of diversity, anti-bullying and toxic leadership within the Mamaroneck Union Free School District (MUFSD).

Our Change Process in Three Steps

The MUFSD’s superintendent and board of education have irreparably broken the sacred trust bestowed upon them by the very families they have been charged to serve. As co-conspirators, the superintendent and board have routinely chosen to lead as though with impunity, by recklessly disregarding the longstanding, ongoing and harmful instances of bias and bullying that have occurred in MUFSD schools. When residents have complained, leadership has systematically ignored, threatened and provided cover for both the perpetrators of violence and the administrators who fail to properly investigate, report and resolve these matters. The tactics of negotiation, open communication and transparency which normally suffice to resolve such matters with ethical leaders, only fall on deaf ears here. The power our community has given these so-called leaders, has turned them against us.

Real, meaningful and immediate change is desperately needed. And we are the only ones who can make that change a reality!

Step 1: Speak

The community will be provided opportunities to discuss ongoing issues in a variety of formats and at multiple venues. Every story and instance of this leadership’s transgressions will be curated, organized and archived (with supporting evidence) as we build a case to demonstrate that what has been happening is both deliberate and a pattern of unethical behavior.

 

Step 2: Act

OneMamaroneck volunteers will be charged to organize around specific causes based on their interest, knowledge and expertise. These members will develop and implement an array of programs to address and mediate a range of issues that the MUFSD has either failed or refused to resolve. These initiatives and their efficacy will be analyzed and publicly reported.

 
 

Step 3: Grow

Speaking as OneMamaroneck, the collective will seek out, create and request suggestions and strategies to proliferate our membership in service of our mission and our ongoing commitment to MUFSD students and families and the community at large. Systems will be employed to keep the public informed on a consistent basis and regular opportunities will be available to provide input to improve on the work we do together.

OneMamaroneck has laid out a three-step change process to do what is necessary to bring about real, meaningful and immediate change to the MUFSD. We thank the thousands of supporters that have made it their business to read the original articles of our founder (David Martin) and to email us to ask how they can get involved to make a difference.

We are issuing an ethical charge and a call to action to everyone that must not be refused. We should do this. We can do this. We must do this, and now!
